Combining

To raise the money for Free the Children I decided to combine my platform together with my fundraising. With the two combined I held a Kids Fun Fit Cardio Class at Lifestyle Family Fitness on Saturday June 6^th, 2009. There were two age groups, ages 5-8 at 10 am and ages 9-12 at 11am. It cost ten dollars per child and all the funds raised were going towards Free the Children. Each child received a raffle ticket at the door for their contribution and had the chance of winning one out of four prizes.  

Advertising

We advertised by flyers everywhere! We handed them out to soccer teams, around neighbourhoods, and even at stores and restaurants. We made frequent announcements at the gym, informing members of my fundraiser. I also had an article in the local newspaper made, encouraging people to come out and support this good cause.

Cardio

The morning of I had my best friend Sue come help me in the classes, and my mom was in charge of the money and raffle prizes. Everything went smoothly, and the kids had a blast. We did a variety of cardio exercises, and played active games. The local newspaper even came out to take some pictures of the event!

Funds

Thanks to all those who came out to support Free the Children, I successfully raised the required amount. It was such a relief, and felt so good to know that with the help and support of my friends, family, and coworkers; my fundraiser was a success. This week the gym will be holding a silent auction to raise more money for FTC, hopefully people will participate. Either way I am relieved to know I have met the requirements, now I hope to go above and beyond.
